About the Item

Rare and sculptural chairs from the iconic Cylindra series by renowned Norwegian designer Peter Opsvik. Crafted in solid pine with organic, rounded forms and a high backrest, these chairs embody the playful and ergonomic philosophy for which Opsvik is celebrated. The seats are upholstered in natural sheepskin, adding warmth and tactile comfort. Peter Opsvik, best known for designing the revolutionary Tripp Trapp chair for children, is a pioneer in ergonomic and multifunctional furniture. His Cylindra series, developed in the 1980s, explores cylindrical and geometric forms that blur the line between furniture and sculpture. Originally created in collaboration with the Norwegian company Cylindra AS, the series includes chairs, storage units, and tables—all characterized by their unique wood craftsmanship and bold shapes. These chairs are excellent examples of Scandinavian postmodern design—functional yet full of personality. Ideal as accent chairs in a contemporary interior or as collector’s pieces.
