About the Item

Striking set of 6 plywood dining chairs designed by Enzo Strada and manufactured by Mobili Barovero, Italy 1950. These chairs have a very nice and dynamic shape. They are nice sized and the higher back provides a lot of comfort. The black painted frames are made of tubular metal, bent into an amazing form, to support the seat but also provide stability of the chair. The shape is very unusual as the constructional frame also brings balance to the aesthetics of the chairs. The frames are all finished with plastic feet to protect the floor. The frames are in very good condition and the teak plywood seats are in good original condition with slight patina. The seats are connected to the frames with nuts and bolts which are black finished to match the whole. The teak veneer on the plywood has a nice honey colour and beautiful aged patina but there are no big damages that are mention worthy. A very nice set of 6 chairs in good original condition. Priced and sold in a set of 6.

Augusto Bozzi Ariston dining chairs Saporiti Italy 1954
By Augusto Bozzi, Saporiti
Located in Roosendaal, Noord Brabant
Highly rare and beautiful set of 6 so called ‘Ariston’ dining chairs designed by Augusto Bozzi and manufactured by Saporiti, Italy 1954. These chairs have a pressed plywood seat which is finished with teak veneer at the front and back, the black painted metal wire frame supports the seats. The structure provides stability and also a nice contrast with the deep coloured plywood seats. The seats are only connected to the base with 2 screws which are decoratively worked away in the seat, but these details also support the aesthetics of the design. This style was popular in the 1950s. Bozzi was one of the designers who gained credits for his designs during that period, putting Saporiti on the map and becoming one of the big players...
