Guglielmo Ulrich, Italian Mid-Century Wooden Chairs with Blue Velvet Seats 1960s

About the Item

Well preserved set of 4 chairs by Guglielmo Ulrich from the 1960s. Styled to be a statement, this beautiful set of four chairs represents Guglielmo Ulrich's rich and stately creative heritage, where shapes elegantly suggest wealth and preciousness. Sinuous ebonized wood elements vertically elevate the overall design, slightly oversizing the backrest, recalling the Italian Art Deco era and achieving the best seating experience. The wooden volumes are accompanied by a lush teal velveteen soft seats, perfect to match any table from that era. The wooden frames are well intact and the seats and upholstery remain in great condition. Guglielmo Ulrich was born in Milan in 1904, the son of Albert and Luisa Battaglia. Of a noble family of Danish origin, he attended the Brera Accademy, and after a two-years cour¬se, he graduated in architecture at Milan Polytechnic. In 1930 he founded the Arca (Arredamento Casa/House-furnishing) company with Scaglia and Wild, of which he was the designer, presenting objects realized with greatest care and craftmanship skill, using precious and exotic materials. The leap in scale from the object to architecture did not involve any particular methodological adaptations. In both cases Ulrich's passion to do it well and to do it beautifully did not permit a diversity of attitude, the aim always being to achieve the best possible result.
