Prague Model 811 Dining Chair in the Manner of Josef Frank, Stendig, USA, 1960's

About the Item

Introducing a rare and beautiful single bentwood Prague Model 811 side chair by or after the renowned designers Josef Frank and Josef Hoffmann for Stendig. Designed in the 1960s, this chair is a true representation of Mid-Century Modern design and craftsmanship. Constructed from bentwood maple, the chair retains it's original condition with light signs of wear and patina consistent with age. The caned back is also original and adds an elegant touch to the design. The seat, recovered in a thick-cut genuine leather hide is in new, never-sat-in condition and features new medium density foam for maximum comfort and longevity. The tapered legs and sculpted backrest create a sleek and sophisticated look that will complement any dining room, living or office space. The Bentwood Prague Model 811 is a highly sought-after design, and this single chair is a rare find. It is the perfect addition to any interior design enthusiast or collector looking for a true piece of Mid-Century Modern history. Josef Frank and Josef Hoffmann were both renowned architects and designers of the early 20th century. Frank was known for his use of color and pattern in his designs, while Hoffmann was recognized for his geometric and linear styles. Together, they created a unique aesthetic that was both modern and timeless. Stendig is a well-known furniture manufacturer known for its high-quality, mid-century modern designs. Founded in the 1960s, the company continues to produce iconic designs that are sought after by collectors and interior designers alike. This Bentwood Prague Model 811 side chair is not only a stunning piece of furniture but also a piece of art. Add it to your collection today and enjoy the beauty of Mid-Century Modern design in your home. ---Dimensions--- Width: 17.5 in / 44.45 cm Depth: 20.5 in / 52.07 cm Height: 32.5 in / 82.55 cm Seat Height: 18 in / 45.72 cm This gorgeous "Prague" chair has recently undergone a partial restoration process featuring new leather upholstery. The solid maple frame and legs show patina throughout such as nicks, scratches and areas of discoloration in the woodgrain (all of which can be seen in the detail photos and natural light video provided). Overall the wood is in very good original condition and all joints are solid and structurally sound. The seat has been recovered in a thick-cut genuine leather hide and shows only the wear of a once-living animal (scars, ranch-brands etc.) and featured new medium density foam for maximum comfort and longevity. The caning is also in excellent original shape showing no breaks or stains whatsoever. This "Prague" chair is comfortable, structurally sound and ready for a lifetime more of use thanks to it's recent restoration. Please view all photos and video provided for details on this chair's current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
