About the Item
A very lovely set of 11 antique Christian VIII dining chairs in fine Cuban/ West Indies mahogany with upholstered slip seats, comprising of (9) side chairs & (2) armchairs. Denmark, circa 1830. Featuring a contoured back with pierced carving on mid rail with an acanthus foliate design with spirals, an upholstered slip seat and saber legs, the chairs have beautiful proportions & offer an understated elegance while providing comfort.

Antique Empire/ Biedermeier Chest of Drawers in West Indies Mahogany, Denmark
Located in Miami, FL
A beautiful Danish Empire or Biedermeier chest in fine West Indies mahogany with four drawers of staggered heights. The handsome figuring of the grain is given added movement by the flat cut contiguous veneer moving horizontally across the front of the chest.. The sides also have a flat cut veneer in one piece that was at the intersection of the huge branch or fork in the tree showing the knot and the concentric circles of the grain radiating out from the knot. Chest offers a pedestal top and rests on turned front feet, with diamond-shaped inlaid satinwood key insets. The top and bottom drawers have sculpted fronts. The secondary wood is pine as is traditional in Scandinavian cabinetry. Denmark, circa 1830.
