About the Item

SET OF EIGHT ENGLISH QUEEN ANNE STYLE WINDSOR DINING CHAIRS Late 20th Century, Benchmade This is an absolute treasure of a find for anyone passionate about fine Reproductions. A full set of Eight English Windsor Arm Chairs in the Queen Anne style, each chair is entirely crafted by hand and of utmost quality. Crafted after the original forms, an original in this manner quite rare and very desirable, each chair is identical. The crest is quite shapely, the spindles and splat tenoned into this crest and pegged from behind with four pins. The splat is pierced and flanked by three spindles and the broader stiles. The open arms wrap outward and around the seat, each coming to a sharp point over the curved arm supports. The seat is a solid plank of oak on each chair, this flawlessly shaped for comfort with deep scooping for support. The front legs are shaped with a robust cabriole that terminates in padded feet, the rear legs stumped and plain, all four stretched with an H-form stretcher that permanently locks these in balance. All four legs join through the seat with split-wedge tenons. For anyone passionate about this form, this set is truly a search come true. Probably crafted in the last decade, the chairs remain in very fine condition, fully functional as a sturdy and comfortable set for the dining room. This entirely hand carved set will certainly be cherished in any home it becomes a part of and will last several centuries to come if well cared for. Measurements: 24" wide toe to toe, 20 1/2" deep toe to toe, 42 1/2" high to crest, 17 1/2" high to seat Condition Report: Outstanding condition, being of somewhat recent manufacture. Minor dings, scratches and abrasions to the seats, knees and feet. The slideshow is just a brief representative sample, but captures the most noteworthy dings. Very sturdy and fine. A RARE AND FINE QUEEN ANNE MAHOGANY MINIATURE SALESMAN'S SAMPLE TILT-TOP CANDLESTAND England, circa last quarter of the 18th century Item # 403RPJ02P An exceedingly fine and rare salesman's sample of a perfectly scaled-down tilting top candlestand, it is crafted from dense mahogany and retains a rather early finish. The surface glows brilliantly under the old oxidized shellac, this turning nearly black in some areas with rich ruby hues coming through as rubbing and handling have worn it. The table is an exact replica of what a client would expect to receive in full size, a piece that would likely have been created for salesmen to take to prospective buyers to showcase what their shops could achieve in wood. The table retains its original battens on the underside, these flanking the original latch and catch that allow the top to easily rotate for storage. It is raised on a turned column with a swollen vasiform baluster over the curvy cabriole legs.
