Set of Four 1950s "Jason" Festival of Britain Chairs by Carl Jacobs for Kandya

About the Item

A set of four iconic 1950s "Jason" dining chairs in pale blue by Carl Jacobs for Kandya. A design classic, the Jason chair is held in MoMA, the V&A and other prestigious collections. It was installed in the South Bank restaurant at the 1951 Festival of Britain. The striking plywood shell combines with angled beechwood legs to create a stylish and inviting shape. Carefully repolished, these chairs are in good condition. All joints are sound. There is minor surface wear, commensurate with vintage. Traces of the Kandya maker labels are visible beneath.
