About the Item

A very decorative set of six Italian 19th century Louis XVI style patinated and giltwood dining chairs. Each chair is raised on front with straight tapered legs decorated with carved giltwood designed garlands with bows, rosettes, acanthus leaves topped with rosette blocks. At the frieze is a giltwood running wave circular design at the front and sides. The back is upholstered in the center and elaborately decorated with giltwood scrolls, urns, reeds, and borders, accented with wreaths and ribbons at each corner. At the impressive top crown is a medallion within a laurel wreath that flows out to garlands at each side. All original gilt and patina.
