About the Item
A charming set of ten dining chairs. Painted orange wood with ornate yellow fabric. Stylized birds, butterflies, vines, and floral patterns. Black felt bottom. Materials indicated below. Made in the United States mid 20th Century, 1960’s. Nine side chairs and one armchair. Some Chinoiserie influences are present.
One of the chair bottoms includes a tag that indicates the following:
“933 chair. 22. Do not remove this tag under the penalty of law. All new material consisting of. Body: Latex foam bubber (0%), blended cotton felt (30%), rubberized hog hair colored (0%), polyester foam (40%), polyester fiber batting (30%). REg No. NY 22121 (Ill) Permti No. N.Y. IND, 1 Penn 487, Calif. N.Y. 359 CONN. 28 Mass. 213. SPace for stamp: 43112927. Certification is made that the materials in this article are described in accordance with law. Contents Sterilized. In fair condition. Gentle wear consistent with age and use. Some of the fabric on the upholstery is visibly worn. See images for more detail.
