This article is a well-known design, well documented in the general design literature.
The history of design, above all Italian, has combined, since the early decades of the 20th century, the skills of craftsmanship, the constraints of industrial production and the demands of art. In this phenomenon fits the experience of Rima, the historic metal furniture industry of Padua. Since from the early 30's Mario Rinaldi sets up a production line of chairs for venues in Venice, including those in Piazza San Marco.

Gastone Rinaldi was born in Padua in 1920. He initially worked for the Rima company founded by his father Mario Rinaldi in 1916.
In his work as a designer he was able to come into contact with many of the major Italian designers, including Giò Ponti, Carlo Mollino, Alberto Rosselli, Franco Campo and Carlo Graffi, Michele De Lucchi and Marco Zanuso. In 1954 he won the Compasso d'Oro Award with the DU30 chair produced by Rima.
In 1974 he founded the company Thema. In 1981 his Dafne chair...
