About the Item
A set of 4 original and very rare 1970s modernist dining chairs in solid pine and paper cord by the danish pioneer architects Friis & Moltke, Denmark.
These chairs are very well crafted by danish cabinet maker -original in solid pine wood and paper cord and has developed a beautiful natural aging and wear over time, resulting in a desirable and elegant aged appearance.
Patinated pinewood can be particularly appealing to those who appreciate the character, history, and authenticity that come with aged wood. It adds a sense of warmth, depth, and uniqueness to the piece, making it a sought-after feature in the collectable design world.
They are in really great and solid condition. Please see other listings of pinewood collectibles of the same period.
Throughout its history, Friis & Moltke has received numerous accolades and awards for its architectural achievements. Their work is characterized by a commitment to functional and sustainable design solutions, often integrating natural elements and maximizing natural light.
One of Friis & Moltke's notable projects is the renovation and modernization of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, located in Humlebæk, Denmark. Their design successfully integrated new exhibition spaces while respecting the original architecture and landscape.
The final image:
The architect Knud Friis built a house for himself and his family in 1958, later expanding it in 1970. The house reflects many of the attitudes and motifs known from Friis & Moltke’s architecture, and stands on a scenic plot near Aarhus. The house was built in 1958 as a family home and drawing office for Knud Friis, partner in the architectural firm Friis & Moltke. In 1970 the property was expanded by the architect himself, who together with his wife lived in the house up until his death.
