About the Item
Fabulous vintage Modern Shaver Howard slatted steel back dining or side chairs with greige tweed seat cushions a set of 4. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, the seats have been professionally cleaned; however, a few stubborn stains remain, and they will eventually need to be reupholstered. The set is priced accordingly. Slatted Steel and Marvelous Modern Appeal!!! This is a FABULOUS set of four dining or side chairs by Shaver Howard composed of incredible clear coated steel frames with straight front and splayed back legs which also create the outer edge of the slatted backs, and they are wearing a greige (beige/gray) textured tweed fabric that will eventually need reupholstered. We never think of that as a negative aspect because we LOVE new fabrics… and think of the ENDLESS and incredible possibilities! Upon our extensive research we were able to confirm that this set was created prior to 1980 when Shaver Howard became Johnston Casuals. So, sometime in the “Groovy 70’s!” Ahhhhh, the “Decade of Disco!” No wonder this set of chairs is so FAB! Obviously they will be awesome surrounding your dining table, breakfast nook, or game table; however, they would be beautiful in your living room or sitting area utilized as side chairs for extra seating. They have clean, simple lines, versatility, and are oh-so-full of Modern style that will blend with your Bauhaus, Art Deco Revival, or MCM home, loft, or apartment too!!
Shaver Howard was a U.S. based furniture company founded in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina by Jacob Shaver and Richard Howard. During much of the 60’s they produced mid-century modern furnishings, many pieces by famed designer Arthur Umanoff. In 1980, Shaver Howard Furniture Co. was purchased and renamed Johnston Casuals.

Fabulous Scandinavian modern Danish rosewood dining chairs by Art Furn including 4 side and 2 armchairs, set of 6. Comprised of solid rosewood and a nubby off-white fabric upholstery that show signs of the original fabric underneath. They have all been professionally cleaned and shampooed however one chair has some stubborn areas. Most will want to reupholster, and we have priced accordingly. The frames are in over-all beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. We re-glued the backs where necessary.
