About the Item
A French Empire Revival Style Five Piece Mahogany and Gilt-Bronze Mounted Figural Salon Suite, in the style and after a model by François-Honoré-Georges Jacob-Desmalter (French, 1770–1841) . The impressive seating suite comprising of a three-corps settee and four fauteuils (armchairs), each with open armrests and surmounted with twin gilt-bronze figures of winged sphinxes, in the Egyptian-Napoleonic style, with laurel gilt-bronze decorations and lion paws. Upholstered with a recent Empire style fabric with wreaths, each chair with its own bolster pillow. Circa: Probably French, late 20th century.

- Condition:Reupholstered. Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor fading. A truly impressive salon set, not an antique, but in the antique flavor. The overall condition is good with some use wear and minor touch-ups to the frame. The Empire style upholstery appears to be recent and in good condition with bolster pillows.
