Luigi Pellegrin for MIM Roma Modular Sofa in Red Velvet

About the Item

Luigi Pellegrin for MIM Roma, modular sofa, velvet, metal, fabric, Italy, 1950s. This versatile lounge set by Luigi Pellegrin consists of one regular element and two corner elements. A highly versatile piece of furniture that allows you to create different compositions. The construction of the base is what makes this sofa so unique and visually convincing, as it is based on trapezoid planes that together form a hourglass, yet sharp and angular in its execution. The sofa is executed in red velvet that has a soft, bright surface. MIM Roma was founded by Ico Parisi (1916-1996) with the intention of integrating visual arts with furniture design. Parisi functioned both as designer and creative director and he collaborated with new visionary designers such as Luigi Pellegrin (1925-2001). MIM produced furniture that incorporated new innovations and materials and became a big player in the postmodern Italian design world. Please note that this item is in good, used condition. We advise reupholstery before use of this sofa. This item contains threadbare upholstery with loose seams and small stains. Reupholstery can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece contains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.

7-Piece John Wisner for Ficks Reed Far Horizons Rattan Modular Sofa Group
By John Wisner, Ficks Reed
Located in Chattanooga, TN
A tasteful fusion of modern, Eastern and boho-chic style. Luxurious bamboo living room set by John B. Wisner for Ficks Reed. Wisner’s “Far Horizons” collection was first introduced in 1954 and remains a desirable, timeless classic. Inspired by the tropical lands of the the East, these modular bamboo lounge chairs with end table are featured in the hard-to-find dark walnut tone. The color is so deep that it almost appears ebonized. Curved and straight lines of rattan intersect to create this trademark pagoda style. The original straps have been replaced with all new supports. Professionally reupholstered with new, textured tweed fabric. The woven threads are a calming blend of teal, green and yellow tones. Tastefully tailored with button tufting and boxed stitched cushions. Along with new foam cushions, our restoration team spent countless hours on the revitalizing the bamboo on all 7 pieces. We maintained the original tone and mitigated nearly every flaw in the finish. Not to be overlooked, the square coffee / end tables offer plenty of function along with the form. The the light-tan tabletops, with a very subtle parchment pattern, not only look like new, but they're practically indestructible. Ideal for hosting parties, these end tables can combine to make one large coffee table. This seating group is totally modular and the lightweight frames make rearranging a breeze. (2) Ficks Reed Chairs (with single arm) 25” Wide x 32.25” Deep x 32.75” High (16.5” seat height) (3) Ficks Reed Chairs (armless) 22.5" Wide x 32.25” Deep x 32.75” High (16.5” seat height) (2) Square Ficks Reed Coffee / End Tables 30.25” Square x 17 5/8” High New foam and custom upholstery. New support webbing. Frames have been toned, touched-up and clear coated. Detailed top to bottom. Only minor imperfections remain on original rattan frames. End tables and laminate tops have no visible flaws. (2) additional hexagon side tables and (2) additional independent armchairs are available (sold separately) We also have several other pieces by Ficks Reed including a blond Far Horizons barrel chair, blond pagoda style coffee table, tile top blond end table, burnt orange sofa...
