About the Item

Rare example of a large scale antique full reclining armchair by Ambrose Heal from early 20th Century England. Frame / structure in solid Oak which has been newly, and freshly refinished into light Cerused Oak with a matte sheen. Oak frame features slim, tapered oar-style armrests extending behind the chair, and slightly camelback stretchers under the armrests. Ball finials crown the top of the chair. Adjustable backrest fully reclines for maximum comfort. Padded seat and button-tufted back for additional user comfort, and the chair has been newly reupholstered in a teal blue Keleen leather. Chair was originally designed by Sir Ambrose Heal, part of the Heals' / Heal & Son bedding and furniture factory in early 20th century England. Approximate date production date for this chair is around 1905.
