About the Item

Antique Edwardian Mission / Arts & Crafts Morris Slumber chair by Streit Mfg Co, circa 1908. Made of quartersawn oak featuring slide out footstool and wide flat armrests that open to reveal hidden storage compartments. Each side of the chair has a slatted book / magazine rack and is supported by casters. Upholstered in burgundy tufted vinyl. The Streit "Slumber" chair, also known as the Morris chair, is a recliner with a slide-out footstool that is considered one of the first library / reading / club recliner chairs ever made. The Streit Manufacturing Company was founded in 1871 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dimensions 32.5" w x 33.5" d x 36.5" h; seat 15"
