Danish 1940s Banana Style Barrel Low Club or Lounge Chair
About the Item
Comfortable, exuberant, and superbly made Danish lounge chair perfectly capturing the essence of 1940s Danish design bridging the the period between the Art Deco and the midcentury periods. These type of chairs were made to match the curved sofas that were all the rage in the 1930s and early 1940s. Most likely manufactured circa 1935-1945, as this style chairs were seen in manufacturers' catalogs from that time period. Coil spring in both seat and backrest raised on beech legs. Good overall condition. The fabric was replaced at a later point but is showing wear and we recommend getting the piece reupholstered. We offer re-upholstery services for this chair and can re-upholster in any fabric of your choice. An off-white 100% Australian Merino wool that maintains the look and many of the properties of sheepskin as well as real shearling is available as well.
