About the Item

A gorgeous Mid Century wrought iron and wicker lounge chair in good vintage condition. Most likely designed by renowned American Modernist supremo, Frederic Weinberg, in the late 1950s/early 1960s, this extremely comfortable and stunning chair will add gorgeous two-tone colouring, sumptuous curves and an exquisite Bauhaus-inspired and Minimalist Mid Century aesthetic to any interior. The stripped-back, elegant design of this charming lounge chair features wonderful, sweeping curves of the seat, which contrast and soften the sturdy, triangular lines of the blackened wrought iron frame – a beautiful mix not only of geometric shapes but of colouring too, as the jet-black frame and rubber feet juxtapose wonderfully against the richly aged tan hues of the wicker sling seat. All in all this is an iconic, very comfortable and extremely stylish lounge chair, which won’t fail quintessential Mid Century styling to any setting. CONDITION This is in good vintage condition. Structurally sound and sturdy, the wrought iron frame and rubber feet are in lovely condition, having hardly any wear. There are a few areas where small parts of the wicker have broken off, which don’t hugely detract from this stunning chair as they’re mainly to the seat and so easily covered by a cushion, which we’d advise to be used for comfort and the longevity of all wicker chairs. Overall it's a wonderful rare chair in good condition and if well looked after it should be just as fabulous for generations to come – please see the photos. MEASUREMENTS Height - 82.5cm, Width – 58.5cm, Depth – 74.5cm, Seat Height to lowest part on front arch – 32.5cm, Weight - 8.5kg.

By Francois Carre, John Salterini, Herbert Saiger, Russell Woodard, Mario Papperzini
Located in London, GB
A pair of gorgeous, impressive and rare Modernist iron strap vintage armchairs in wonderful, refinished condition. Likely made in the 1980s in continental Europe, these fabulously striking, assuredly robust and yet seductively sleek armchairs will add timeless sculptural elegance and bold sophistication to any outdoor setting. Impressively sized and reassuringly heavy, these stately armchairs are made of iron and due to their wide iron-strap seats and superbly sweeping backs are – rather surprisingly – extremely comfortable, even without a cushion! The gracefully flowing lines and over-curving back and arms are particularly stunning, and the large seats and broad backs make them the ideal statement garden chairs. Stylistically, the armchairs have an enhanced Post-Modernist 1980s assuredess to their more dainty design predecessors by Francoise Carré and Russell Woodard. Similar to Mario Papperzini for John Salterini and Herbert Saiger for Woodard’s more muscular 1970s iron strap chair...
