About the Item
HUGO GORGE, ARMCHAIR “CANADIAN” FOR LORENZ AND REICHE, AUSTRIA 1920s
This beautiful armchair was designed and manufactured by Hugo Gorge as part of his "Canadian" line for Lorenz and Reichel in the 1920s. The chair is made of walnut and is in excellent original condition. It still features the leather cushion that came with it.
The chair has a unique locking mechanism for three adjustable positions, a feature exclusive to Hugo Gorges's designs. It would make a striking addition to any interior space, be it a living room, family room, screening room, or office. This lounge chair would also be ideal for hospitality or corporate locations, such as boutique hotel lobbies, cocktail bars, members-only clubs, or luxury lodges.
Despite having some fantastic patina on the wooden parts, the chair is still in excellent condition. Additionally, the chair can be upholstered according to your specifications, just like all our upholstered pieces. By choosing used mid-century design furniture, you make a sustainable choice that repurposes existing resources. With proper care, this high-quality furniture can be used for multiple lifetimes.
Furthermore, many of these pieces have a rich history that can still be seen or felt through their wear and tear. The signs of use tell a story about their previous owners and give insight into the life they led.
