Lounge Chair in Oak attributed to Henning Kjærnulf

About the Item

A stunning mid-century Danish lounge chair, crafted in the style of Henning Henry Kjærnulf, exemplifies the timeless appeal of Scandinavian design. Made from solid oak and featuring its original Savak wool upholstery, this piece was created by an unknown Danish cabinetmaker. It beautifully combines functionality, comfort, and sustainability—hallmarks of modernist design. The chair offers exceptional comfort, with its original cushions supported by an epeda metal frame with integrated springs in both the seat and backrest. While the cushions show wear from age and use, the oak frame remains in excellent condition: firm, steady, and structurally sound. Reupholstering the cushions is recommended and straightforward, as they are removable and reversible, adding to the chair's versatility. The high back enhances comfort, making it ideal for extended seating. Its open, airy design, accentuated by the intricate woodwork along the sides, balances strength with lightness, giving the chair a refined yet inviting appearance. The visible wood grain further emphasizes its natural elegance and craftsmanship. A low back lounge chair in the same style and design is also available in our shop. We can recomend tham as a pair. This chair represents a perfect blend of aesthetics and practicality, ready to be revitalized for continued enjoyment. 52cm (20.47inches) to the armrest.
