Mid-Century 1950 Vintage José Zanine Caldas Lounge Chairs
About the Item
Caldas’ lounge chair is considered an important work in modern Brazilian furniture design history. The structure of the lounge chair is made of marine plywood, while in some instances can be ubiquitous, is used precisely for its benefits and characteristics – as it can be bent, shaped, curved, and formed, which allows this lounge chair to be made from a single cut – something wood like timber would not give. The braided leather molds itself to the body, distributing the weight to different elements.
