About the Item
Pair of lounge chairs, beech, fabric, Europe, 1950s
The overall shape of these chairs is composed of clean, functional lines that communicate a sense of stability and ease, without ornamental excess. The chairs' frames are constructed from bentwood shaped into fluid, continuous curves that form the arms and rear legs in a single, uninterrupted gesture. he rounded arms invite touch and suggest a more human, ergonomic consideration that contrasts subtly with the otherwise rectilinear composition. The seat and backrest are broad and low, which is typical for the era, reflecting the post-war fascination with relaxation and informality. These cushions are relatively deep, thick, and visibly plush. From the side, the chair has a slightly reclined silhouette, reinforcing its intended use as a lounge chair. The legs are straight and squared at the base.

Reupholstery can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier.
