This Pair of Barcelona chairs where made in the early 1980s. The are in dark brown leather. The chair which was designed Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1929. It is not the original it is in the style of, but they are very good quality and in perfect condition. One of the most recognized objects of the last century. A unique piece which is a great eye-catcher for your antique, modern, space age or mid-century interior. We also can do new upholstery cover or other special requests. Please ask. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886 - 1969) was a German-American architect. Mies van der Rohe is considered one of the most important architects of modernism. With the means of technical civilization he wanted to order and represent it architecturally. His architecture is dedicated to the expression of constructive logic and spatial freedom in classical form. To this end, he developed modern supporting structures made of steel, which enabled a high degree of variability in the usable areas and extensive glazing of the facades. This concept was so rational and universal that it exerted an extraordinarily great influence on many contemporary architects (see also International Style) and has been constantly developed further in line with technical innovations to this day. The relationship of proportion, detail and material in his work, as well as the unique spatial creations of the years in Berlin, also had a great impact. He also became famous as a representative of minimalism in architecture, expressed by the formula "less is more".
