Pair Reupholstered Sling Lounge Chairs Karen Mobring (Sweden, 1974)

About the Item

“Diana” armchair pair with beech frames and leather-strapping, designed by Karin Mobring in 1974. Beautiful, Minimalist design with some marks and niks to the frames (lightly sanded and waxed August 2022). Re-upholstered May 2024, in fun, yet surprisingly neutral, geometric woven textile. 25.13ʺW × 25ʺD × 27.5ʺH with 21.25”H arms & 14.75”H seats Ideal for discerning collectors and those with an appreciation for both Scandinavian craftsmanship and contemporary furniture, the “Diana” armchairs are a statement of high style and enduring elegance, perfectly suited to elevate any design-forward interior. The carefully selected textile feels like a pixelated version of a natural landscape, like a forest. It is a strong, tightly woven, high-quality fabric. We love the fact that this textile is at once neutral, yet unique, differentiating these chairs from the sea of plain beige linen, so commonly used, and sometimes, over-used.

Corbusier LC1 Sling Lounge Chairs in Hair-On-Hide Leather, A Pair
By Pierre Jeanneret, Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand Cassina, Charlotte Perriand, Cassina, Le Corbusier
Located in Round Top, TX
Now known as the 1 Fauteuil Dossier Basculant, the LC1 chair was originally introduced at the Salon d’Automne in 1928 by the designers Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand. Since then, the LC1 chair has become one of the most iconic furniture designs of the 20th Century, with Cassina taking on production of the piece in 1965. Constructed from a chromed steel frame, the chairs have been ergonomically designed using a system based on the measurements of the human body to ensure ultimate support and comfort. The chairs have a compact silhouette, with hair-on-hide sling seats and tilting backrests, with armrests in matching leather. Timeless classics, these chairs looks as modern today as they did in 1928, making them the perfect addition to any contemporary living space. Cassina re-issued the chairs in 1965, and we attribute the production to Cassina, but cannot guarantee the producer because they are not marked. The proportions and quality of production are of a very high level. These are in very nice original vintage condition; there are some worn areas to the leather. They will be wonderful seating in a living room, as occasional seating in the family room, in your bedroom or dressing area, or facing the fireplace in the study. Le Corbusier was born in 1887 as Charles Edouard Jeanneret. He began experimenting with furniture design in 1928 after seeing a model apartment designed by the architect Charlotte Perriand, whom he invited to join his studio. His cousin, Pierre Jeanneret, also collaborated on many of his designs and Thonet was the first manufacturer of his designs in the 1930’s. Along with Walter Gropius, Mies Van der Rohe, and Theo Van Doesburg, Le Corbusier is often considered the father of Modernism. He created a range of chairs that express his ideas, most of which have become classics. The Le Corbusier Basculant...

Lounge chairs in Pine and fabric by Karin Mobring, Sweden 1970s. Karin Mobring designed this Ikea classic Vintage lounge chair in 1972. It is made of solid Scandinavian pine wood and original fabric. The design and the look and feel of this occasional chair reminded me of what someone once taught me about good sculptures, "they look great from all angles". And what is particularly important about a chair is that it is also very comfortable to sit in. People have very different thoughts about IKEA furniture...
