About the Item

Salto and Sigsgaard Council Family Lounge Chair Legs: Black,Duo Upholstery: Front: Re-wool 198 + Back: Nevada Black For One Collection Like the other chairs in the Council Family Series, the lounge version is designed with a consideration for visuality and comfort. The pedestal base gives the chair an airy feel to it, so it doesn’t take up much of the room. The swivel leg compared with the comfortness of the shape, allows this chair to function in many different settings with thought for relaxation. The elegant shape of the chair can be accentuated by upholstering the interior and exterior surfaces in different colours or materials. General info Design by: Salto&Sigsgaard Year: 2021 Dimensions: W 68cm x D 70cm x H 81cm Seat height: 44cm Specifications Model and material: KT 8045 Seat and back: Fully upholstered Pedestal base: Cast aluminum incl. swivel in graphite or black Upholstery: Fabric or leather or in combination The Council Family is a series of furniture, which includes chairs and accompanying tables, designed by Kasper Salto & Thomas Sigsgaard, who make up the design duo Salto & Sigsgaard. The series has emerged from a design process that took its point of departure in New York City 10 years ago when Salto & Sigsgaard entered the winning bid in a 2011-design competition to partially refurbish the interior of the Trusteeship Council Chamber (also known as the Finn Juhl Chamber) at the UN headquarters in New York. In terms of shape, the Council Family Series stands on the shoulders of the iconic winning bid, the Council Chair. The Council Family Series introduces multiple versions to increase the usage significantly. The series is based on longevity, responsible sourcing, and modern production methods. A fusion moulding technique that is produced via low emission raw materials, ensures that better quality is achieved while being superior in terms of environmental friendliness. The foam employed in the chairs is fire retardant and halogen-free and thus lives up to international standards and certification requirements. Organically shaped Danish designs from Onecollection & House of Finn Juhl are united with colourful paintings, digital artworks, mosaics, and relics by Danish artist Erik A. Frandsen at the Regional Hospital Gødstrup. The different elements are sprinkled across the 375-meter-long foyer at the hospital creating a beautiful setting for patients, personnel and relatives. The Regional Hospital Gødstrup pays tribute to Danish furniture and art while introducing a new standard for hospital design. While our journey encountered its share of challenges, our unwavering passion and enthusiasm have continuously persuaded stakeholders, including initially skeptical banks, to support us. This perpetual commitment and belief in OneCollection are why our presence continues to thrive today. Established by Ivan Hansen and Hans Henrik Sørensen in 1990, the main ownership remains with the two founders who guide a team passionately dedicated to the values and mission of the company. From the very beginning, our journey has been self-propelled, building a reputable furniture business grounded in core principles such as passion, quality, collaboration, trust, and humour. Our depth of knowledge in the furniture industry and exceptional Danish furniture design has been pivotal, coupled with a perpetual desire to work autonomously, ensuring freedom and responsibility in our decision-making processes. Driven by a perpetual ambition to elevate OneCollection as one of Denmark’s paramount design companies, we have always strived for excellence in crafting culturally significant, high-standard furniture designs. Our path has often strayed from the conventional, embracing a unique and sometimes unacademic approach, fueling our journey through intuition and courage to stand alone when necessary. The OC brand is at the forefront of contemporary design, seamlessly blending unique quality with a keen perception for international design aesthetics.
