About the Item
A gorgeous, luxurious, rare, and extremely impressive designer leather swivel chair in lovely condition. One of the most iconic pieces by British design giant Terence Conran, this breathtaking and sculptural statement lounge chair will add excellent quality, superb comfort and a bold aesthetic of striking Modernist elegance to any interior.
The Glove Chair was produced as the flagship piece for the Content by Conran range circa 2000 and this particular chair was used in the original advertising campaign and has remained in the family of a Conran employee ever since.
Impressively sized and reassuringly heavy, this fabulous swivel lounge chair has wonderful lines ad monochrome colouring. It features a beautifully brushed silver chrome swivel base, above which a wonderfully sleek, curving ice-white moulded fiberglass shell sits. The extremely comfortable large seat and sumptuously curving wraparound back are finished in excellent quality padded and piped quarter-sectioned black leather.
As the name indicates, this chair was created around the idea of a glove. Each corner represents part of a hand with the beautifully curving shell, the back of the hand; not only is it a clever and interesting design but it makes a visually stunning, very stylish and extremely comfortable piece of Modernist furniture.
All in all this is a remarkable and rare lounge chair, which won’t fail to add luxurious comfort, sheer class and a knockout look to any setting.
CONDITION
This gorgeous armchair is in good-to-very-good condition. Extremely solid, sturdy, reassuringly heavy, comfortable and highly usable, it has only minor signs of use. The leather is in very good condition and has been treated to keep it rejuvenated, with the only minor to-be-expected signs of use including wear to some of the external piping and edges. The base and swivel mechanism are in lovely condition and the achingly lovely white fiberglass shell has a few very-hard-to-see grazes and dinks to the back. Overall it’s a fabulous rare lounge chair in lovely condition and if well looked after it should be just as magnificent for generations to come – please see the photos.
