Shigeru Uchida 'Z' Chair Mid Century Takeshi Nii
About the Item
A specimen.
This is not the NY chair. Indoor camp sensibilities for the modern age. Something of a mid century myth. Completely foldable and with removable headrest. Built tough in canvas, polished chrome and teak. The first models were designed around 1958, taking inspiration from directors chairs - which, is safe to say it predates any of those outdoor foldable joints you’ve been packing to the beach on your camps.
Shigeru had a strong affinity for the outdoors and the functionality of this chair no doubt influenced its design. It is worn undoubtedly, as you can see in the photos - personally I think this validates the character and purpose to be lived in.

19th Century Japanese Lava Stone Mask
Located in Vancouver, BC
A sculpture of great presence. It’s difficult to say when this work was created, but judging by the erosion of the stone - and the delicate nature and almost mold like features of the lips, nose and eyebrows, it’s safe to suggest that this has been around for a very long time.
I sourced this from a small area north of Tokyo which leads me to believe this is Black Fuji Stone. The distinct formed and structured Japanese Fuji...
