About the Item

Wonderful lounge chair made in Sweden in the 1940s. The curves are similar to that of the contemporary clam chair. The legs are made from solid turned birchwood and the frame has been reupholstered and hand sewn in sand coloured "Tablu" jacquard textile from SAHCO. HISTORY: The model stood in Swedish silversmith Wiwen Nilsson's home in Lund during the 1940s along with the “Clam” chair by Arnold Madsen (see b/w image) LITERATURE The model depicted in, "Svenska hem i ord och bild, 1940s" ("Swedish homes in words and images, 1940s"), Tablu from SAHCO: An animal jacquard for keeps, Tablu is a rare beast. Execution and depth are key characteristics of this high quality woollen textile, a take on much-loved zebra and leopard patterns made to last and last. 67% new wool, 6% polyester, 3% nylon, 12% viscose, 12% linen
