About the Item
A classic vintage 1990s teak plantation lounge chair with a taught hand-caned seat and backrest. This chair is unique with a handcarved leaf medallion on the headrest and large buttons on the armrests. As with this style of plantation chair, additional leg support rotates out from the arm supports, see photos. The legs are beautifully turned and sturdy. The caning is very taught. It is likely that this was just used as an accent chair and rarely used.
Bauer International was founded in the 1990s, crafting high-end furniture based on historical West Indian designs. Bauer largely sells to luxury tropical resorts and pro-golf shops. This chair does not bear the Bauer sticker but it is the same as others, which do still have the Bauer label intact.
In as found condition. Condition commensurate with age and use. Caning is taught. Chair structure is sturdy. Random small scratches in the wood. In very good vintage condition.
