Antique fine quality early 18th century Portuguese oak and leather chair. Could also be used as a side, hall or desk chair. Exceptional age, character and charm. Very heavy, solid and strong, with no loose joints or woodworm. These are rare and this example is better than most. Full of age, character and charm. An elegant attractive chair with good age and patina. Amazing 1" diameter brass tacks. Would look great in the right location! Overall maximum dimensions: 58cm W x 52cm D x 128cm H x 49cm high seat In good antique condition with historic knocks, marks, scratches, wear, losses, imperfections, repairs and alterations, as is to be expected with genuine antique furniture of this age. Historic repairs to the leather (usable, but not abusable condition) and some timber components have been replaced over the centuries. Stock No. 8011.

A lovely late 17th century Spanish walnut and leather armchair, retaining its original leather seat and back, held by worn gilt brass studs. The back of the chair has two finely carved scroll acanthus finials above two broad arms, which are supported by carved balusters that run through into square front legs, these are joined by a high and heavily carved stretcher with two shaped stretchers joining the front and back legs at either side. Great patina to the wood and leather. In very good condition.
