Restoration Period Engraved Leather Desk Chair
About the Item
A fine French Restoration period barrel-back desk chair (or captain's chair), with dramatically reeded and turned legs, scroll arms and incurved top rail, which is polished smooth for extra comfort. The wide seat has been upholstered with dark brown tooled leather, which has been secured all round with an eye- catching starburst-style brass trim, adding a flash of whimsy to this otherwise very masculine piece of furniture. Full of authentic charm, this handsome chair has a wonderful timeworn patina and shows some signs of age-related wear to the leather in places. It would be a real statement piece in a home office or study.
