On offer on this occasion is superb, beautifully-presented example of the iconic “Harry” six-seat, L-shape, chaise-end sectional-sofa and ottoman from the world renown Italian furniture house of B&B Italia. Dressed in the most satisfying, tactile and robust of Pale-Brown “Gamma” Leather, and supplied with numerous back and scatter cushions. As you will no doubt be aware by your interest in this Antonio Citterio masterpiece, B&B Italia pieces are the epitome of contemporary European furniture design, are of Peerless quality, and exhibit detailing and execution of an unrivalled standard. In a world of temporary pleasures, B&B Italia create beautiful furniture that remains a joy forever. Inferior-quality imitations of this legendary piece are easily and cheaply acquired but the genuine article, particularly dressed in this most stunning and tactile high-grade “Gamma” Leather are as rare as Hen’s teeth! Spectacularly sought-after as, whilst being as robust and hard-wearing as rhino skin, its softness and texture of both coverings are simply divine to the touch. The perfect blend of luxury and practicality. The vast majority of this sofa is in terrific, immaculately-maintained condition, having seen considerate, regular use in its previous home, and is almost entirely free from fault, flaw or damage. That said, there are light, visible signs of use across the leather of the seats and armrests as you would expect, and some more-obvious, very-noticeable wear to the front of some seat-cushions and, particularly, the armrest of the chaise-end (the previous owner obviously had a favourite seat, so please view the images provided for illustration) but, this aside, all sections are as impeccably-presented as you could wish for. For the avoidance of doubt, please view the numerous images provided to confirm the genuine, original condition and appearance of this suite. Whilst likely to fall short the requirements of the most particular buyer for the reasons mentioned, for someone looking for a relaxed, effortlessly-elegant suite of Peerless design and execution to position at the heart of their home, it is truly heaven sent! Should perfection be desired or demanded, our leather specialist could have all areas of this sofa back to A1 condition for £1500 so, when considering the cost when new of such a piece, is a most-compelling proposition for the astute design lover. Without question, this superb sofa possesses all the beauty and majesty you would expect from the finest contemporary furniture money can buy. Dimensions-wise, the measurements are of the sofa are H-70cm, W-340cm (Chaise-End) and D-280cm (Sofa-End), and the breathtaking seating position this iconic modern-design creates is enhanced by the use of sumptuously comfortable, generously upholstered feather-filled back and scatter cushions, and composite-filled seat cushioning, which leaves you powerless to resist its charms.

Antonio Citterio

Driven by his belief that beautiful surroundings can heighten the enjoyment of even mundane everyday rituals, Italian architect and industrial designer Antonio Citterio creates furniture that combines sophisticated form with functionality. Citterio’s timeless neoclassical-inspired chairs, outdoor furniture, desks and other pieces have earned him a place among the most influential furniture designers working in his native country.

Born in 1950 in Meda, Citterio grew up just a stone's throw away from the artistic hub of Milan. In 1972, at just 22 years old, he opened his first design studio and designed a chair for the La Rinascente department store while completing his studies in architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan. Citterio established a partnership with famed furniture designer Terry Dwan, and the pair worked together during the 1980s and 1990s, designing striking buildings in European cities as well as Japan. He is currently chairperson at an interior design and architecture firm with fellow architect Patricia Viel and eight other partners.

Citterio taught at the Università della Svizzera Italiana in Mendrisio, Switzerland, from 2006 to 2016. He holds art director roles for high-end furniture manufacturers Maxalto, Arclinea and Azucena, and today, Citterio lounge chairs, sofas and other furnishings are in hotels all over the world. Citterio’s work is synonymous with luxury, and has yielded collaborations with reputable brands such as Kartell, Knoll, Flexform, Vitra and B&B Italia. His Sity seating collection for the latter and kitchen furnishings for Arclinea are among his best-known innovations.

Citterio has received many awards and accolades for his design work, including the Compasso d’Oro. He was also given the title of “Royal Designer for Industry” by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts in 2008.

To help prevent scratches, use adhesive felt pads, coasters, placemats, and avoid sliding objects across the surface of the piece when possible. Lacquer + Paint + Metal Surfaces - Dry dust with a clean microfiber or feather duster. Wipe with a slightly damp microfiber towel and mild cleaner as needed. Wipe dry promptly. We recommend that you clean with ammonia-free Windex or a mild surface cleaner. Please stay away from bleach, alcohol, or petroleum based cleaners. You may use a general purpose wood cleaner. Avoid using furniture polish as over time it can accumulate and leave a residue. Wax + Oil Finish - Dry dust with a clean microfiber or feather duster. Wipe with a slightly damp microfiber towel. Wipe dry immediately. Clean with ammonia-free Windex or a mild surface cleaner. Stay away from bleach, alcohol, or petroleum based cleaners. Our natural wax and oil finishes will dull over time. Wax or teak oil may be reapplied as needed using a soft white cloth. Raw Wood - Dry dust with a clean microfiber or feather duster. Use a damp microfiber towel or soft brush as needed. Do not use any product containing wax or oil to clean. Outdoor Furniture - Outdoor furniture may require frequent oiling. A cover is strongly recommended for all outdoor furniture. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture and/or direct sunlight. If exposed to rain, allow cushions to air dry completely before putting them back on the frame. Leather Care - Dry dust with a clean microfiber or feather duster. Wipe with a slightly damp microfiber towel. Do not use cleaning products on the leather. The recommended leather conditioner is Skidmore’s Original Leather Cream. Marble + Stone - Dry dust with a clean microfiber or feather duster. Wipe with a slightly damp microfiber towel. Wipe dry immediately. For daily cleaning we recommend using Orange Glo and/or Method Stone Cleaner on the marble. All marble and stone surfaces are protected with a sealer. To maintain the overall appearance and protection of the marble or stone, reseal with Miracle 511 Seal & Enhance. It is important to use coasters and clean up moisture immediately on marble and stone surfaces.
