About the Item

A beautiful and elaborately designed and decorated wicker reception chair, American, C, 1890 in very good condition. This elaborately decorated seating piece was a multi tasker and was used from the homes entryways for guests, as additional seating in the parlor and sunroom as well as in the bedroom . This piece was not only to be used as additional seating in a room but as a piece of art to be admired and talked about because of the over the top design and it's detail in its workmanship. The settee is predominantly decorated in shades of dark green complimented by red ,black and yellow trimming. It is elaborately decorated over all with woven diamond designs in the seat, the two arms and the back. The whole settee is over the top with flared legs, rolled flared arms and a beautiful over the top chair back of woven reed In an almost stylized wing design which is crowned by a multitude of curlicues which hover above an almost stylized woven wicker Sunburst medallion . This piece is a stunner !
