Pair of Louis XVI Style Carved Beech Case Sofa Settees
About the Item
Opulent matched pair of upholstered French case sofas or settees crafted in the Grand Louis XVI style. The sofas feature a tuxedo style case hand-carved from beech with fluted corners decorated with carved rosettes in the neoclassical taste. The settees are supported by elegant fluted and tapered legs. The frames are upholstered with colorful fabric featuring whimsical fruits on the vine with foliate in green. Stylized depictions of pomegranates, pineapples, and figs decorate the fabric over a cream toned background. Very good condition with light fading commensurate age and use. The beech has a natural finish that compliments the gorgeous upholstery. Rare style with a distinctive profile. Sold as a pair.
