20th Century Italian Pair of Vintage Brass Eye-Shaped Side Chairs
About the Item
A vintage Mid-Century modern Italian pair of high sculptural side chairs made of hand crafted ebonized Rosewood in the style of Paolo Buffa in good condition. The detailed dining chairs are particularized with an eye-shaped brass bracing and black faux fur, standing on four wooden legs. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940 - 1960, Milan, Italy.
Seat: 19" H x 16.5" W x 11.5" D
Paolo Buffa was born in 1903, in Milan, Italy and passed away in 1970. He was an Italian architect and designer. Before Buffa studied at the Polytechnic Institute in Milan, he worked for the Italian architect and designer Gio Ponti. He established his own company with collaborator Antonio Cassi Ramello. Before Buffa passed away, he had been named one of the most important designers in Italy.
