This is an antique Gothic Revival hall chair. A Scottish, oak baronial reception seat, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1870.
Of superb Gothic appearance and excellent proportion
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Select oak presents fine grain interest and rich caramel hues
Classic side chair, ideal for a reception hall or dressing table
Dome top crest rail between a pair of turned finials
Upper accentuated with a carved foliate medallion
Back rest adorned with a trio of arcade panels
Fascinating buttress sides host inlaid relief forms and scroll motif
Comfortable, flat seat squab at a useful height of 48cm (19")
Knees finished with stylish cross icons, in an ecclesiastical manner
Turned and cupped front legs ride smoothly upon coasters
Canted rear legs fall away gently from the back rest
