ARRANGEMENT #4 (Chair) Aluminium by Nick Ross

About the Item

An interest in early forms of architecture has profoundly influenced Nick Ross’ approach to design. The way in which humans have arranged stones and other materials to construct structures for practical and religious purposes has laid the groundwork for his sculptural explorations. In this fresh body of work, Nick Ross further develops these arrangements, drawing inspiration from elements of Scandinavian Bronze Age boat construction, viking jewellery, and standing stones. It’s this return-to-basics approach that Ross views as holding renewed value in today’s intricate and fractured society. “These objects are simple, showcasing my design philosophy in its purest form: material and volume in context.” The project was first shown at the Swedish Museum of History during the Stockholm Design Week in September 2023. Made in sand-cast aluminium with a waxed finish. Due to the nature of the sand casting technique imperfection may appear in this item. These imperfections are what give the object its character, and should not be seen as defects
