About the Item

A rare Victorian mahogany side chair by Ralph Johnson, Warrington England. The seat has red leather overstuffed upholstery with the back rest tooled and gilt with the insignia of the First South Lancashire Regiment. Both seat and back rest are buttoned with brass nails and lined with hessian and webbing to the underside of the seat. The underside of the chair displays the makers badge of Ralph Johnson. Beautifully turned mahogany front legs raised on miniature brass castors complete this beautiful chair of strong military interest. English, circa 1890.
