About the Item
This pair of Chinese side chairs reinterprets the classic lamp hanger form with a sleek and minimalist sensibility. Each chair features a gently arched crest rail with outturned ends, a broad central back splat, and subtly curved stiles — all elements inspired by traditional Ming dynasty furniture. Though nearly identical, the two chairs are slightly unique in construction.
Crafted from golden-toned elm wood with visible grain variation, the chairs are supported by a geometric apron with pillar strut motifs and cylindrical legs joined by horizontal plain stretchers. The understated elegance of the base structure complements the sculptural profile of the upper frame, offering visual balance and a quiet sense of proportion.
The seats are fitted with removable cushions upholstered in a pale jacquard fabric with tonal swirling patterns. Both cushions show staining and signs of age but remain intact and usable. These chairs are well-suited for use as accent or occasional seating in a serene, curated interior where Chinese design references are welcome but not overstated.
