About the Item

An English Regency Period Mahogany Window Seat, Probably by Gillows. This elegant regency period window seat was designed to sit beneath a large window. It incorporates a finely moulded scrolling mahogany frame and four elegant turned legs with reeded detailing. It is the legs that allow a firm attribution to the firm of Gillows of Lancaster and London as these legs are in a known Gillows pattern. Finished all round to enable it to stand freely. The quality, as would be expected from the Gillows workshops, is exceptional. It is perfectly proportioned and the mahogany has faded beautifully.
