Classical Carved Hardwood Piano Stool with Dolphins, New York, circa 1825 A truly exceptional classical carved hardwood piano stool with dolphins, originating from New York circa 1825. This piece stands as a testament to the rare and exquisite craftsmanship of American classical furniture, with very few surviving examples of its kind known to exist. This example with its shield backrest and the remarkable detailing of dolphin side-rails. The carving work on this stool is extraordinary , exhibiting deep and meticulously designed motifs. The single, unadorned column supported by four fantastically carved paw feet, each adorned with lion foot nails. The stool's cushion is upholstered in later red fabric accented by gilt wreaths, completing the period motif. Moreover, this remarkable piece is not only a work of art but also practical, with an adjustable height ranging from a minimum of 19 inches to a maximum of 22 inches. This piano stool is a collector's or museums choice, a rare find that encapsulates the beauty and skill of a the short lived Classical period of 19th century American furniture
