About the Item

Sculptural vintage stool designed by Mogens Lassen for K. Thomsen. This iconic stool was featured in the prestigious Danish Cabinetmaker’s Guild exhibition in 1942. Inspired by traditional wooden shoemaker’s stools, the design emphasizes simplicity, expert craftsmanship, and the natural beauty of its materials. Constructed of solid elm, the intuitively shaped seat features a distinct semi-circular form with a concave indentation. Beautiful wood selection is seen in the dramatic grain that flows with the organic curves of the seat. The stool stands on three sturdy, tapered oak legs, secured with handmade wooden pins. Professionally restored and polished, the piece retains its warmth and character of an old object. A subtle repair at the has been so skillfully executed it is invisible to the eye.
