Mid-Century Early German SE 40 Swivel Chair by Egon Eiermann, 1950s

About the Item

Very rare office swivel chair from the series of tubular steel spring chairs by egon eiermann. A rare collector's item. A robust version of the se 40 with a wooden base. Like all of eiermann's furniture designs, the se 40 impresses with its objectivity and simple functionality. What is striking is the skeletal resolution of the backrest, which gives this design a certain lightness and elegance. The springy backrest is responsible for additional comfort. The base is a heavy, 4-legged frame made of solid wood. A functional detail with design quality are the flat screw heads on the backrest and seat, which can be found in most of eiermann's designs. the chair is in good condition with signs of wear and patina. However, after all this time, the height adjustment no longer works optimally.
