About the Item

Swedish furniture designer John Kandell, (1925-1991) Swivel Chair "Bon-Bon" for Källemo 1980s. Lacquered steel frame, seat and backplate in black leather, seat height approximately 50 cm. This chair are a variation of the 'Bon-bon' design, created for Sven Ivar Lind's interior design of the Treasury at Stockholm Palace in 1980s. John Kandell is one of the foremost contemporary furniture artists. He was educated at Konstfack and also worked as a teacher there during the fifties. John Kandell designed furniture and interiors, glass, and textiles, often in collaboration with our country's great architects: Peter Celsing, Sven Ivar Lind, and Nils Tesch. Kandell's later furniture increasingly approaches art and sculpture, simple and stripped-down, playful and often humorous. John Kandell's designs are still appreciated and sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts. His ability to blend aesthetics and functionality continues to be celebrated, and his work remains influential in the world of Scandinavian design.
