Late 19th Century Pair of Single Windsor Chairs with Old Blue Painted Finish
About the Item
Late 19th Century Pair of Single Windsor Chairs with Old Blue Painted Finish. Sturdy and extremely comfortable. Made in England in 1890.
A distinctive pair of English Windsor side chairs, crafted in England circa 1890. These late 19th-century examples feature the classic single hoop-back form with slender, hand-turned spindles and shapely saddle seats, all raised on well-turned legs united by H-stretchers.
The chairs retain their original painted surface in a deep, muted blue, beautifully worn and patinated with age. The finish reveals layers of character, with subtle distressing and edge wear that speak to decades of use and lend a rich, time-softened aesthetic.
Robust and elegant in equal measure, these chairs offer an ideal balance of utility and artistry, perfect for rustic interiors, period settings or as accent pieces in more modern schemes.

Rare Child's Windsor Armchair. Made predominantly of yew wood and ash with a figured elm seat. Simple turned legs over "Crinoline" shaped stretchers. Beautiful color and a deep patina. Made in Buckinghamshire, England circa 1820.
A rare and exceptionally well-preserved child's Windsor armchair, crafted in Buckinghamshire, England circa 1820. This charming and finely scaled example exemplifies early 19th-century English vernacular design, made predominantly of richly figured yew wood and ash, with a beautifully grained elmwood seat carved from a single plank.
The hooped back is flanked by hand-turned spindles, flowing gracefully into shaped arms supported by balustar-turned arm supports. The seat is deeply sculpted and retains a warm, timeworn patina, showcasing the natural beauty of the elm. Below, simple turned legs are joined by an elegant crinoline stretcher- a particularly desirable detail in children's Windsor chairs...
