About the Item
A rare and impressive monumental American Victorian mercantile retail showcase or display cabinet by Schmitt & Co, circa 1890s. Made of mahogany featuring Baroque styling with a rectangular display case, large felt riser and mirrored backing. Includes large acanthus carved cabriole legs, two power outlets, lockable drop down doors and dovetailed drawers with brass shield escutcheons. Schmitt & Co of Cincinnati Ohio was established in 1851 and specialized in show cases, store, office and bank fixtures. Their facilities were on main street in place of what is now The Great American Ball Park, home of the Cincinnati Reds near the Ohio River. Measure: 122".
