19th Century French Louis Philippe Rosewood Bookcase is the perfect choice for those with a special collection, prized family heirlooms, or for your library of books! Rosewood, sometimes called Kingwood, was considered the finest furniture wood extant, and available only to the most prestigious furniture houses during the period due to its extraordinary expense, being harvested in the Americas and brought back to Europe via arduous sea voyages. This example exhibits a traditional style relying on the sheer natural beauty of the exotic wood and expert molding detail which conveys understated elegance. It features a bold chapeau de gendarme cornice, mitered corners with finely turned and carved half columns framing the doors, and classic tailored lines allowing it to work with a huge variety of styles and tastes.
