Beautiful and Stylish Wooden Dutch Arts & Crafts Display Cabinet / Glass Case

About the Item

Stunning antique cupboard and display cabinet or bookcase by one of Holland's finest. If you are looking for a truly stylish and top quality crafted, solid wood showcase then this unique cabinet could be the one for you. The sleek design and the strong lines that are being accentuated by the different depth levels in the paneling is typical of the Dutch Arts & Crafts era. You could hardly find a more timeless design era anywhere in the world, because we are certain that a hundred years from now this design will still look contemporary. When it comes to the stylish design and the top quality make, then, in the early 1900s, there were only a handful of furniture makers in the Netherlands capable of creating a cabinet like this. We think that designer Jac van den Bosch designing for 't Binnenhuis in Amsterdam is most likely to have designed this cabinet, but we can't be sure because we found no maker's marks. If you are decorating an Arts & Crafts interior or if you are simply looking for the best when it comes to stylish and great quality designs and makes then this work of beauty with its subtle and serene style elements could be flying your way soon. This Dutch Arts & Crafts display cabinet or bookcase really ticks all the boxes and if you like it as much as we do then you will love our price. Especially when taken into account that perfect packing and worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 days are complimentary. Maximum height x width x depth: 73 x 37.5 x 13 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again). You can shop all our 1000+ listings by pushing the button that reads 'View All From Seller'.

Unique Liberty & Co Marked Great Arts & Crafts Cabinet Attr. to Leonard Wyburd
By Leonard Wyburd
Located in Lisse, NL
Stunning Arts and Crafts cupboard by one of the greatest. We are certain that this wonderful handcrafted, stained oak cabinet was designed by Leonard Francis Wyburd (1865-1958). We are certain, because of several style elements that are typical for his designs for Liberty & Co in the late 19th century. We have no pictures in books or other evidence, but the pieces from his hand that can be found on the internet reveal style elements that are very similar and they were used by no one else. The design of this incredibly artistic piece shows both the influences of Medieval and Rural Britain. It were these early and amazing pieces of furniture from the Liberty Studio (headed by Wyburd) that made people across the continent speak of the 'Stile Liberty'. Designers like Wyburd and pieces of furniture like this amazing cabinet, influenced and shaped the entire development of the Jugendstil and Art Nouveau in Europe. That too makes this rare piece important for collectors and possibly for museums around the world. This cupboard is a work of art and it is an absolute joy to look at. It is all made of solid and stained oak and apart from the stunning and impressive overal design with the overhanging top with supporting beams, there are some key style elements that make this cabinet really stand out. First of all, there is the ever so true saying which is embossed in copper in beautiful Arts and Crafts letters which reads 'WELCOME IS THE BEST CHEER'. Secondly, there are the rare leather panels in the doors which come with (faded) images in slight reliëf. The one on the left is of a man in a hat and tights and he is playing a mandolin. The leather artwork...
