Early 19th century mahogany astral glazed bureau bookcase
About the Item
Early 19th century mahogany bureau bookcase circa 1810.
Good quality late Georgian astral glazed 2 part bureau bookcase.
Top bookcase section with a carved dentil freize cornice, below which the astral glazed double doors open to reveal 3 adjustable shelves. Bottom section, with fall that drops down onto bearers to form the writing surface and access to the fitted interior of pigeon holes and inlaid drawers. Below the fall are 4 graduating drawers fitted with ornate brass handles.
Raised on tall bracket feet, original locks.
Expected surface marks and fading to woodwork, surface marks to writing surface. Minor age splits to sides, with evidence of old restoration.
