French 19th Century Painted Bibliotheque

About the Item

A French 19th century painted pine bibliotheque with original glass-front doors and charming, buttery yellow finish. At less than 13” deep, this antique case piece is a wonderful solution for tight spaces. The upper body features two tall doors with original panes of wavy glass, secured with a brass cupboard lock, revealing a white-painted interior fitted with five stationary shelves, 8 ½” deep, for displaying books or collections. The lower body has two doors enclosing a cabinet, secured with another cupboard latch, opening to an unpainted interior fitted with a single shelf, 9 ¼” deep. Two centuries of patina on the exterior has left variable texture through the layers of pigment down to visible wood grain in some parts. Cleaned and tightened, this bibliotheque is ready to bring a cheerful update to its next home. Please view the detailed images.
